Our glass pool fence cleaning covers every panel and both faces, including the white mineral marks that pool splash leaves behind. Glass balustrades on balconies, decks and stairs are done the same way.
Both sides, or there is no point
A pool fence is a single sheet of glass you look straight through. Clean one face and leave the other and you have made it worse, because now you are looking at the dirty side through a clean one.
So both faces of every panel get done, including the ones that are awkward to get behind and the panels facing the neighbour. Pool gates are kept shut while we work.
The white marks are pool water
Splash lands on the glass, sits there in the sun, and dries. The salt and calcium it was carrying stay behind. That happens in the same band on the same panels every time anyone gets in the pool, which is why the marks form a line instead of covering the panel evenly.
Salt water pools are worse for this, and a panel that catches afternoon sun is worse again, because the water dries faster.
Old marks and etched glass
Most splash lines come off, whether they are from the pool or from a sprinkler that reaches the fence.
Marks that have sat on a panel for years can etch into the glass, and no clean takes that out. If a panel is etched, we’ll tell you before we start.
Spigots, clamps and fittings
The fittings get cleaned. They do not get worked on.
Stainless spigots and clamps tea-stain, particularly around salt water, and they come up well with the right approach. We will not adjust or tighten anything.
If a spigot is loose, a clamp is corroded or a panel has movement in it, we will point it out and leave it there. A pool fence is a safety barrier with compliance rules attached, and that is the installer’s job.
Balustrades, decks and stair glass
Balcony balustrades, deck panels and frameless stair glass are all large panels with two faces each and long clean edges that show every miss. They also tend to be glass nobody has cleaned since it went in.
How often
More often than feels necessary, if it is near a pool.
The splash never stops, so deposits are always building. Twice a year keeps them from bonding. Leave it much beyond a year and it stops being a clean and becomes restoration work.
