Clearwater cleaner holding a water-fed pole with its brush head, outside a period bungalow

We do high window cleaning from the ground. Most windows up to three storeys are reached with a water-fed pole, so nothing leans on your house. It suits double and three storey homes, and windows that are hard to stand next to: over a garden bed, a pergola or a narrow side path.

The windows above the ground floor are the ones that stay dirty for years, because reaching them properly takes gear most people do not have.

How the pole works

Filtered water is pushed up a carbon fibre pole and out through a brush head at the top. The brush loosens the dirt and the water rinses it away. Because the water has nothing dissolved in it, the glass dries clear on its own without anyone touching it.

So there is no need to squeegee and towel a pane dry, which means no need to be next to it.

What it means for your house

Nothing rests on your gutters, and nothing leans against render, window frames or leadlight. The hose is run in a straight, clear line so it does not drag through your garden.

Where the limit is

Most windows up to three storeys are comfortable from the ground. Four is sometimes possible, depending on the ground under the window and how far back we can stand.

We do not do high rise. Anything needing rope access, a swing stage or an elevated work platform is a different trade with different tickets and different insurance. If that is what your building needs, we will say so on the phone and point you to someone who does it. Low-rise apartment and strata buildings are different. We do those, and we quote them per building.

Power lines, ladders and roofs

The pole is kept well clear of the wire to your house and the street power lines, even when it flexes. A window inside that distance is left, and we tell you.

Some hard-to-reach windows cannot be done with the pole at all. They need a ladder or roof access, so we quote them separately, and only a team member certified to work at heights does them.

The awkward ones

Height is only half of it. The windows that get skipped are often not that high, just hard to stand next to.

Glass above a garden bed. A window over a pergola or a carport roof. A narrow side path with a fence a metre from the wall. A pole reaches over all of it from solid ground, which is why most of these are routine for us.

Inside, as well

High glass inside can be done as part of an interior window clean: stairwell windows, voids and anything above a landing. Panes that are extra hard to reach from inside are counted separately when we quote.

Frequently asked questions

How high can you actually reach?

Most windows up to three storeys can be done from the ground, and sometimes four, depending on the ground under the window and how far back we can stand. If your glass is higher than that, we may not be the right people, and we will tell you when you call.

What about windows the pole cannot reach?

We quote them separately. They need a ladder or roof access, and only a team member certified to work at heights does them. Windows too close to power lines are left for safety, and we tell you.

Do you do high rise or apartment buildings?

High rise buildings, no. Low-rise apartment and strata buildings, yes, and we quote those per building. Anything needing rope access, a swing stage or an elevated work platform is a different trade with different tickets, and we will point you to someone who does it.

Will you damage the gutters or the render?

Not for windows we reach with the pole. It works from ground level, so nothing rests on your gutters, render, frames or leadlight.

Can you get the windows above a garden bed or a pergola?

Usually. We stand back on solid ground and reach over whatever is in the way. Established gardens, narrow side paths and awkward roof lines are normal around here.

Does it work on the inside of high windows too?

Often, as part of an interior clean. That covers stairwell glass, voids and anything above a landing. Inside panes that are extra hard to reach are counted separately when we quote, so mention them when you call.

James and team did a great job cleaning our external windows recently, including windows up high. James was very pleasant to deal with and was happy to touch up a few more spots after I mentioned. Thanks James.

James, Isaac and Zac just completed cleaning the exterior of all our windows to a very high standard. Our Edwardian home presented a range of height and access challenges which they tackled efficiently and professionally. They were punctual and very respectful as they worked diligently attending to every detail of the windows’ exterior. We would not hesitate to highly recommend them for your professional cleaning requirements. Thanks again James, Zac and Isaac.

You don’t realise how dirty your windows are until someone as skilled as James and his team comes and cleans them! Always very impressed with his work, would really recommend! even if you are someone who has never paid attention to getting your windows cleaned, I promise you will see the value in it after James comes and works his magic!
